Mundt Library- was constructed in 1967. The library was named for the long-term Republican Senator from South Dakota, Karl E. Mundt. The dedication was attended by many nationally known figures including former President Richard M. Nixon. The lower level of the library is the Mundt Foundation Area. It contains over 1.5 million items from the senator's archives and memorabilia of his years in the senate, a meeting area, and the office of the executive secretary of the foundation.

The library itself has a capacity of 120,000 volumes and is one of the finest facilities in the state. The main floor of the library houses the reference section, periodicals, computer lab, and study area. The second floor contains the book collection, study areas, classrooms and the audiovisual center.
